Claimed Credentials and Verifiable Credentials
The Claimed credentials section in the Affinidi Vault allows you to view and manage all the Verifiable Credentials (VC) which you have accepted and claimed from trusted issuers, such as proof of identity or certifications.
Verifiable Credentials (VC)
A Verifiable Credential (VC) is a new way of sharing and proving information securely, digitally, and directly without relying on paper or intermediaries. It is usually issued by government agency, educational institutions or professional organisation.
Imagine you need to prove something about yourself, like your age, education, or your employment, you can use your VC to prove it. Traditionally, you might need a physical document or a third-party services to verify this information.
These Verifiable Credentials (VC) include:
- Self-Attested: Where the information is provided by the user themselves, and not verified by a third party.
- 3rd-party issued credentials: Issued by trusted organisations or entities, and verified by them before being offered and issued to you.
The Verifiable Credentials (VC) in Claimed credentials tab is tamper-evident, but can be deleted if you wish to remove it.
