# Upgrade your plan

> Upgrade a project from the Essential plan to the free Community plan in Affinidi Portal.

Upgrade a project’s plan in Affinidi Portal to get more Affinidi Credits for that project.

Every project has its own plan, shown under Current plan on the project’s page. Every new project starts on the free Essential plan, even when your other projects are on a different plan. You can upgrade a project to the free Community plan for more credits. Each API call a project makes uses some of its credits.

Use this guide when:

- A project’s Affinidi Credits balance is running low.

- Affinidi Portal shows a Join the Affinidi Community Tier link because a project has used up its credits.

## Prerequisites

- A project on the Essential plan. The project page shows the plan under Current plan.

## Steps

To compare the plans first, open Actions at the top of the project page and select View All Plans. The Affinidi pricing page opens in a new tab. The Actions menu appears to the project’s owner.

Open the project’s page

Select All projects in the sidebar, then select the project’s name.

Open the plan options

In the Service Usage section, select Manage my plan. The Upgrade your plan dialog opens.

Choose the Community plan

Select Community - Free. Standard - Custom and Enterprise - Custom are marked COMING SOON.

Complete the upgrade

Select Continue. The Affinidi website opens in a new tab. Follow the steps there to complete the upgrade, then return to Affinidi Portal. The dialog shows “If you’ve recently modified your subscription tier, the updates will be reflected shortly.” Select Done.

## Confirm

### Test 1: the project shows the Community plan

Open the project’s page. Once the change is reflected, Current plan shows the Community plan and the Affinidi Credits balance shows the new credits.

## Troubleshooting

| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
| Manage my plan shows “You are already on the top tier free plan”. | The project is already on the Community plan. | Select Done. No upgrade is needed. |
| Current plan still shows Essential after the upgrade. | Affinidi Portal has not refreshed the plan yet. | Wait a few minutes, then reload the project page. |
