# Sign in to Affinidi Portal > Sign in to Affinidi Portal with Affinidi Login, Apple, Google, GitHub, Microsoft, or a passkey, accept the Terms and Conditions, and start in your default project. Sign in to Affinidi Portal to create and manage your projects. You can sign in with [Affinidi Login](/products/affinidi-elements/affinidi-login.md), which uses your Affinidi Vault, or with an Apple, Google, GitHub, or Microsoft account. New users can choose any of these to create an account. If you already have an account, keep signing in with the method you used before. After you add a passkey to your account, you can also sign in with it. The first time you sign in, Affinidi Portal creates your account, asks you to accept the Terms and Conditions, and sets up a default project for you to work in. Every resource you create in Affinidi Portal belongs to a project, so you need an account with at least one project before you can configure any Affinidi service. Use this guide when: - You are signing in to Affinidi Portal for the first time. - You want to sign in with Apple, Google, GitHub, Microsoft, or a passkey. - Affinidi Portal shows the Terms and Conditions screen after you sign in. - Your session has ended and you want to sign back in. ## Prerequisites - One of these accounts: - An Affinidi Vault account, to sign in with Affinidi Login. To create one, follow [Set up Affinidi Vault](/docs/get-started.md). - An Apple, Google, GitHub, or Microsoft account. Already have an account? Link before you switchAffinidi Portal identifies your account by the sign-in method you use, not by your email address. Signing in with a provider you haven’t linked creates a new, separate account with its own projects, even if it uses the same email address. To add Apple, Google, GitHub, Microsoft, or a passkey to your existing account, sign in with your current method first and link it on the Authentication methods page. See [Manage your sign-in methods](/dev-tools/affinidi-portal/manage-authentication-methods.md). ## Steps Open Affinidi Portal Go to [Affinidi Portal ](https://portal.affinidi.com/). The sign-in page shows the Affinidi Portal heading with the prompt “Log in or create an account”. Choose how to sign in The row of buttons shows each provider’s logo. Select one, then complete the sign-in on that provider’s page: - Affinidi (the Affinidi logo): signs you in with Affinidi Login and your Affinidi Vault. - Apple, Google, GitHub, or Microsoft: signs you in with that account. - Log in with passkey: signs you in with a passkey you added to your account. If you cancel on the provider’s page, you return to the sign-in page. Accept the Terms and Conditions On your first sign-in, Affinidi Portal shows the Terms and Conditions screen before you can continue. - Select the Terms and Conditions link to read them in a new tab. - Select the I agree to the Terms and Conditions checkbox. - Select Accept and continue. Selecting Cancel returns you to the sign-in page. Accept the Terms and Conditions to use Affinidi Portal. Start in your default project On your first sign-in, Affinidi Portal creates a project named Default project and makes it your active project. A Welcome to your first Affinidi Project message appears under Notifications in the sidebar. Create your Affinidi Login configurations, wallets, and other resources in this project, or [create a new project](/dev-tools/affinidi-portal/work-with-projects.md#create-a-project) to keep resources for different applications apart. ## Accept updated Terms and Conditions When Affinidi updates its Terms and Conditions, the Terms and Conditions screen appears at your next sign-in with the heading We have updated our Terms and Conditions. Select the I agree to the Terms and Conditions checkbox and select Accept and continue to continue to Affinidi Portal. ## Sign back in after your session ends When your session expires, for example after a period of inactivity, Affinidi Portal shows a Session Ended dialog. Select Sign in to sign back in with the method you used last time. If you last signed in with a passkey, Affinidi Portal opens the sign-in page so you can choose again. To sign in with a different method next time, or to sign in to the same account with more than one method, link the methods on the Authentication methods page. See [Manage your sign-in methods](/dev-tools/affinidi-portal/manage-authentication-methods.md). ## Sign in to Affinidi CLI Affinidi CLI signs you in with Affinidi Login and your Affinidi Vault when you run affinidi start. To use the same account in Affinidi Portal and Affinidi CLI, sign in to Affinidi Portal with Affinidi Login too. See [Affinidi CLI](/dev-tools/affinidi-cli.md). ## Confirm ### Test 1: Account Info shows your User Principal ID Open the Account menu at the top right of Affinidi Portal and select Account Info. The menu shows User Principal ID followed by your identifier. See [Account Info](/dev-tools/affinidi-portal.md#account-info) for what it is used for. ### Test 2: project switcher shows your active project The project switcher at the top right of Affinidi Portal shows the name of your active project. After your first sign-in, it shows Default project. ## Troubleshooting | Symptom | Likely cause | Fix | | The Terms and Conditions screen shows “This link has expired”. | More than 15 minutes passed between signing in and accepting the Terms and Conditions. | Select Go back and sign in again. | | “Unable to save your acceptance” with “We could not save your acceptance. Your account has not been activated. Try again.” | Affinidi Portal could not record your acceptance. | Select Accept and continue again. | | “Unable to save your acceptance” with “The Terms changed while you were reviewing them. Review the current version below.” | Affinidi published a new version of the Terms and Conditions while the screen was open. | Read the current version, then select Accept and continue. | | You signed in with a new provider and Affinidi Portal shows a new Default project in place of your projects. | The provider wasn’t linked to your existing account, so Affinidi Portal created a separate account. | Select Logout, sign in with your original method, and link the provider on the Authentication methods page. Please try again or use a different sign-in method.” | The passkey couldn’t be verified, or it isn’t registered for your account. | Select Return to login and try again, or sign in with another method. | | The sign-in page shows “Unable to connect to the Affinidi Portal.
