Plans, credits, and limits
A Create button that is suddenly disabled, or a service page that shows a message in place of its list, usually means a project has reached one of its limits.
Every project in Affinidi Portal has a plan that sets its balance of Affinidi Credits and how many of each resource it can hold.
Knowing which limit applies tells you whether to upgrade the plan, use a different project, or tidy up existing resources. Upgrade your plan →
What a plan gives a project
Each project has its own plan, so projects in the same account can be on different plans.
- Essential: the free plan every new project starts on, whatever plan your other projects are on.
- Community: a free upgrade that gives the project more Affinidi Credits.
- Standard and Enterprise: custom plans, shown in Affinidi Portal as coming soon.
The project page shows the plan under Current plan. On a free plan, Next billing date shows “You are on a free tier”.
How Affinidi Credits are used
Affinidi Credits are a fair-use allowance for calling Affinidi services. Each API operation a project performs uses some of its credits, and the plan sets how many credits the project has.
The project page shows the remaining balance under Affinidi Credits balance. When the balance runs low, Affinidi sends a “Your Affinidi Credits are low!” notification for that project.
What limits a project can reach
| Resource | Limit |
|---|---|
| Projects | 5 that you own, per account. Projects shared with you are on top of that. |
| Affinidi Login configurations | 10 per project. |
| Affinidi Iota Framework configurations | 10 per project. |
| Most other configurations, such as a Credential Issuance configuration | Set by the plan. For most of them, the limit is 1 per project. |
The project page tracks the login configuration limit under Number of Affinidi Login configurations, for example 3/10. The Dashboard shows Total Projects against the limit, counting shared projects too.
What happens when a project reaches a limit
When a project already holds the maximum number of a resource, that product’s Create button is disabled and shows the limit that applies. The page also shows “You have created the maximum number of allowed resources of this type. Upgrade your plan to create more.” with an Upgrade plan button. Your existing resources keep working.
To free up room without upgrading, delete unused resources from the project, or create the new resource in another project.
When a project has used up its Affinidi Credits, its project page and service pages show a message saying the free credits are used up. The message replaces their usual content on pages such as Affinidi Login and Wallets. The message links to Join the Affinidi Community Tier, which opens the Affinidi website, where you upgrade the project to the Community plan for more credits.
